Season 6 - Episode 3 - 5th Grade

Yesterday was Thursday, the first day of school. The day before that, me and my mom made lemon-zucchini bread to give to our new teachers.  So on the first day of school, I picked the prettiest rose in our flower bed and put it in a small box with the bread and two small packs of tissues and two pretty yarn crafts shaped like a heart and a star that I made myself.  Then I gave them to my teacher, Mrs. Kimbell.  And she loved it all.  I also gave one to Mrs. Bechdol, the librarian, because my mom said to because she works hard in the PTA.
I found out Mrs. Kimbell only whispers when she talks.  She never raises her voice any higher.  I wish I was like that.  (and so does my mom!)  She never gets angry at anyone.  What a change from 4th grade!
We discussed the rules, she showed us how to have lunch, and we took a timed math test with only 5 minutes to do 100 multiplication problems.  I skipped all the 12's cause I don't know the 12's.  I'll have to work on those.  I got 84 out of 100 of the problems.  One boy got all 100 correct and one of the other girls only missed 1.
Then we came home on the bus and I told my mom all about my first day.  And then my dad came home and I told him all about my first day too.  We had dinner and had delicious hamburgers that my dad grilled.
Today was the second day.  Mrs. Kimbell showed us how to make an awesome poster about ourselves.  My poster's title was "All About Me".  And that's exactly what it was about.  I like to write about myself, because I'm awesome.  Now my teacher can know me and what I like to do and what I don't like to do.  Some of the things I put about myself are: My favorite color is purple; My favorite food is Asian Lettuce Wraps (and my teacher loves them too); My favorite subject is math...and science.  Fun, Fun, Fun.  It asked what my favorite TV show was and I don't have one, because I like a bunch.
I had a great lunch.  In Kindergarten I wasn't able to have lunchables, but now my mom lets us have lunchables...sometimes.  I love the nacho kind, especially when it has nerds.
We came home on the bus and I was really sweaty.  I told my mom all about my second day.  And I told her everything because Mrs. Kimbell is very awesome...just like me.
This is going to be a great year,  YIPPY!!!
Here's me on the first day.

Adam is in 1st grade and Cassidee is in 3rd grade.
We give a present to our new teachers on the first day of school every year.

I had the same bus driver, Miss Elizabeth, every year from Kindergarten to 5th grade.
(p.s. I actually hate riding the bus everyday, but don't tell her that.)

Season 6 - Episode 2 - 5th grade is almost here!

Today I learned that my teacher for 5th grade will be Mrs. Kimbell.  I met her at the school when my mom and I went to feed breakfast to all the 60 teachers and staff in our school. She is Mrs. Ledek's sister.  Mrs. Ledek is awesome, she went on a mission to Brazil like my dad.  And since Mrs. Ledek is awesome, I can tell Mrs. Kimbell will be a great teacher for me.  I wonder if Mrs. Kimbell went on a mission as well?  I think maybe she did cause her sister did.
I found out that Mrs. Ledek went on a mission one day when we were having lunch in the cafeteria.  I was telling my friends how awesome Portuguese was when Mrs. Ledek came by and heard me speaking a few words in Portuguese.  Then she started speaking Portuguese to me.  I said I don't know all the words in Portuguese.  I asked her how she knew Portuguese.  She said that she went on a mission to Brazil.  That is how I found out Mrs. Ledek went on a mission to Brazil.
While I was at the school with my mom, Cassidee, Adam, Andrew and Brexton stayed at my friend Emma's house.  They had a lot of fun.  When we went to go pick them up, we stayed a bit longer to play while the moms talked and talked and talked and talked.
I can't wait to meet every kid in my class and hear all the rules my teacher has tomorrow at the Open House.  Then on Thursday school will finally start.  Then no more swimming, boo hoo.

Season 6 - Episode 1 - My Summer Travels

Somehow Season 5 went by with no episodes.  Sorry folks.
Season 6 is now about my life at age 10.
I've now finished the 4th grade and am soon headed to the 5th.  My summer has been fun and relaxing.  The day school got out in May this year, my family headed to Utah for my sister, Cassidee's, baptism.  I was happy to see my sister get baptized.  It was great to see my cousins and extended family while we were there.
One day in Utah my cousin Brynley and I were at this park with a pond.  Brynley dropped me on the cement and made me get a big scar on my elbow. I also got to have a sleepover with my cousins Lyndsi and Hailey and my sister Cassidee at Grandmama's house. At the end of the week all my Riskedahl-side cousins had a huge sleepover at my Aunt Ronda's house.  My mom and all my aunts had a weekend getaway and Dad and Uncle Ron were in charge of all the kids for 2 days.
Then we packed up with some of my favorite cousins, Kari and Addison, and headed to North Dakota to see my Nana and Papa Riskedahl.  We stayed at the farm in Tuttle and had a blast.  My friend Paige came to visit from Arizona.  We cleaned the clubhouse that used to be my Great Grandma and Grandpa Riskedahl's house back in the 1940's and 50's.  It's a really old house with no bathroom or running water.  As we washed the floor, we ran to the big house and back a million times for water and soap.  We made Kallie be the go-getter.  She's Paige's little sister.
I got to ride horses with my favorite Great Aunt Donna.  She is the best because she gives us a special breakfast with donuts, cheetos, and oreos.  Uncle Duane, Papa's brother, gave me and Kari a ride out on his Big Red around the farm.  We got to go look for frogs, but I guess, this year was not the frog year because we didn't find any.  Last year we caught a bunch of frogs when all the cousins were there at the farm.
We left Addison with Nana and Papa and took Kari with us back to her house where it was really hot.  So we ran around in the sprinklers.  The next day we made a spa in the bathroom where we put lotion on our face and cucumbers on our eyes and laid on towels on the floor while our moms took pictures.  They thought it was hilarious.  It was a lot of fun.
When we got home it was really late at night.  I was really happy to finally get home and rest from all that traveling.  We started swimming lessons with our church friends, the Carlings.  I think I am the best at swimming, but I'm probably not.  I'm really fast at all the different strokes, but sometimes I do them wrong.  My favorite is the butterfly stroke.  But at first my favorite was the back stroke because we didn't yet know the butterfly arms.  We started reading the books for the summer reading program at the library.  Cassidee heard that she could try to win a Kindle if she reads the most books.  She read a lot, over 175 books.  Me, on the other hand, was just trying to get fun toys to play with.  But when I got enough book bucks to get what I really wanted this other girl got what I really wanted and there were no more left.
This past week we didn't get to go to swimming lessons because too many people got sick and Sis. Carling went camping.  Today we went shopping to get school supplies.  It was fun but when my mom found out we were taking too long she almost started running.  We got home and one of her piano students was waiting at the door.  Me and my siblings went out to the shed to find the new backpacks.  I looked in every box and I guess I miss them anyway.  Mom had to find them for us.  I am excited to go to 5th grade.
We also had my favorite dinner tonight, Biscuits and Gravy.  Yum!

Season 3 Ep. 3 - My Favorite Holiday

My FAVORITE holiday of all time is CHRISTMAS. I'm so excited. I feel like I've waited forever for it to get here. I can't wait to open the presents under the tree tomorrow. It'll be Christmas Eve and in my house we get to open all the gifts we give each other on Christmas Eve. Then all the presents from Santa come on Christmas Day. Mommy says to thank Nana and Papa Riskedahl for that tradition because not everybody does it that way. I think they should though!
I sat on Santa's lap twice and told him what I wanted. I'm pretty sure I'll get everything on my list. I really want a walkie talkie, some glittery little pet shops, and (my favorite) perler beads!
Most people don't know what they are, but I do, and they're fabulous! I'm so excited, I can hardly wait.
Mom says to always remember "the reason for the season", but how can you when you're 7 years old!! She also says it's about giving to others.
I gave a few gifts to other people.
And I certainly don't mind the "receiving" side either!!!

Season 3 Ep. 1 - First Day of Second Grade

Another year has come.
I'm growing up before your very eyes!
I'm an old pro at this school thing now. I'm in second grade this year.
My new teacher's name is Mrs. Roberts. She's really nice. She hasn't yelled at all yet.
This was my first day of school.

Cassee is in Kindergarten now, so she rides the bus with me.
Of course my mother made us wear matching clothes...again!

Here we are waiting at the bus stop together. It's in front of the next door neighbor's house. We don't have far to go. Lucky us.

And then, of course, my crazy little brother has to come out too. He was going to preschool the same day. He was excited too and he wanted to ride our bus too! He's so silly, he's still wearing his pjs.
(I guess pjs is better than what he did this morning. He came running out on the lawn when the bus came in just his underwear! Yikes!)

I hope I have a fun year. I'm going to be really busy. I'm taking piano lessons, soccer and two different dance classes. My mom said I won't have any time for watching cartoons. Darn it. She just keeps saying, "I hope I survive!"
Yeah, me too!

Season 2 Ep. 10 - My Summer Vacation

So summertime has come and my crazy mother decided to spend half, and I mean literally half, the summer travelling all over the country.
So far I've ridden in the car for over 36 hours and I still have about 20 to go.
We left home on the 7th of June and drove through Colorado and into Nebraska where we stayed 2 nights at my Aunt Jill's house. Then we drove through Nebraska, South Dakota and into North Dakota to where my Nana and Papa Riskedahl live. We went to this centennial celebration for the town my mom grew up in. It was...different, yet fun. I also got to ride on Uncle Duane's four wheeler a bunch of times. It was awesome. We stayed a couple weeks in ND, then drove back to Nebraska. We've been at Aunt Jill's house for 4 days now.
It's been fun playing with my cousins. We've caught fireflies and slept in the tent in the backyard. I did, however, get a terrible sunburn today. Not cool.
I'm excited to see the fireworks that will happen in a couple of days. I love fireworks!
After the Fourth of July stuff we're heading to Utah to my Grandmama and Grandpapa Jones' house. We'll go to the airport and get my dad! I've missed him so much, I can't wait to see him again.
We're supposed to get home on July 18th, but we'll see if my crazy mother actually does that. I think she just wants to drive all summer long and waste all my time. Before I know it school will start again and I won't have had any fun.
Maybe I'll have pictures next time.

Season 2 Ep. 9 - My First Piano Recital

I've officially completed my first year of piano lessons.
I'm pretty good too.
Some days I hate practising and tell my mom I want to quit. She hasn't let me yet.
She says I'm too good and that someday I'll be better than her.
Seems a long way off to me!

So here I am at my first recital.

And here's me playing one of my two songs.
I played Pop! Goes the Weasel first.
Then I played Persian Market. I even helped "arrange" that song!

Here's my mom and me.
She's not really my teacher. She trades with another lady.
But my mom was the one in charge at the recital.
It was pretty fun. Maybe I'll give piano lessons another year.

Season 2 Ep. 8 - Bad News

Okay, so, really bad news. My mom is NOT very happy about this.
I LOST MY GLASSES!
Sometimes I take them off 'cause they hurt my ears a little . I mean, I don't need them to see all the time, but Mom got mad at me everytime I took them off my face. Mostly cause I just set them anywhere I was at the time.
The day after I got them I set them on a shelf in the garage and mom happened to find them that night when she came home from somewhere.
Then one day, I took them off when I was on the hammock in the back yard. They fell in the grass and I forgot about them. Mom found them the next morning. I just forgot...no big deal...right?
Well, Adam and Cassee kind 'o like to wear them too and play with them. The night I lost them...I totally blame them. We looked all over for days and just can't find them anywhere!
It's been well over a week now. I really hate not having them at school 'cause I really do need them! I keep telling Mom she just needs to get me a new pair. No big deal...right?
Maybe I'll try contacts next!

Season 2 Ep.7 - The New Me!

Two new changes are going on here with me.

First, I got GLASSES!!! They're kind of fun to have, but sometimes they get in the way. My mom's been getting kind of mad at me because I take them off sometimes and forget where I put them. One time I left them on a shelf in the garage, another time I forgot them outside and found them under the hammock. Ooops. Mom got pretty mad at that one. They just get in my way sometimes and I forget to put them back on.

And Second, my front teeth are starting to come in. Plus, I lost another one on the bottom, but you can't really see that.
And...it's my birthday coming soon. I'm almost 7 years old! I can't wait. (And then it's going to be Easter, and I LOVE Easter! I love CANDY too! They go together so well!!!)

Season 2 Ep. 6 - Piano Lessons

I am taking piano lessons this year. You may wonder if my mother is my teacher, but she is not. She said she doesn't have enough patience to teach her own kids. (And I believe her!)
Most days I like to play. But some days ... I hate it.
At least once a week (sometimes two) I rant and rave that I hate practising and that I want to quit. So far she hasn't let me. I'm kinda guessing she never will. She says how good I am already and that I'll be better than her someday. Yeah right, she can play everything.

She tells me that one day I'll thank her. We'll see.

Season 2 Ep. 5 - My Two Front Teeth (less)

As you can see from all my fun pictures here, I am still missing my two from teeth. Yes, yes I know it's been a long time. I believe I was missing the same two front teeth in my Halloween pictures. There's not even little nubbs coming in or anything.
I keep telling my mother that she should take me to the dentist. I'm not sure what the dentist will do, but he's my only hope, right?
Mom insists that I just need to be patient, but that is just so hard when you're six.
I haven't been able to bite into an apple in ... just forever!
Oh well, I guess I should be glad I have two less teeth to brush every day!!

Season 2 Ep. 4 - My Embarrassing Mother

My mother is CRAZY, and so embarrassing.
The other day she made some muffins with apricots in them. She thought she was so fancy and had to show off by sharing them with everyone she knows. She put two muffins in a little baggy and said I needed to take them to Mrs. Bellah, my first grade teacher. Then she put two more in a bag and said I had to give them to my bus driver, Miss Elizabeth. (My mom is always giving them presents. I wish I got more presents!)
Anyway, the next morning I got out to my bus stop WITHOUT the muffins. She totally forgot to give them to me. And I'm only a 6 year old kid, I don't remember about stuff like that!
So, I get on the bus and the bus pulls ahead a bit and stops. Next thing I know my mom is calling my name and trying to find me on the bus. What the heck??
She's in her bathrobe and slippers, her hair is a "morning" hair do, and she has her glasses on! She always wears contacts, so she looks kind of funny when she wears her glasses.
She gets to my seat and puts the muffins in my backpack and tells me to give them to Mrs. Bellah when I get to school. She'd already given the bus driver her muffins.
Oh, boy. I was so embarrassed. Everyone looked at me and said stuff like, "Your mom just got on the bus!", and "Your mom wears glasses??", and "What did she put in your backpack?!"
I couldn't believe she did that!
Well, actually, yes I can believe it because she does embarrassing stuff like that all the time.
I'm only 6. I think I'll end up dying before I turn 10 with her as my mother!
I love you mom! hehe

Season 2- Ep. 3 - The Wicked Witch of the Northwest

Here I am, Emmalynn Jones, the most beautiful (because I have make-up on) wicked witch of the Northwest (of New Mexico). I love my awesome costume, especially my broom (which I forgot to hold for this picture). In fact it's so awesome, I wore it last Halloween too. Heeheehee.
HEE HEE HEE, I'm so scary! Look closely, I'm even missing teeth like real witches!!

Here is my meager stash of candy. Since Halloween was on Sunday, my boring parents didn't let me go Trick-or-Treating on Halloween. I only got to go to the church's Trunk-or-Treat party the day before. It was actually pretty fun though. I actually won some cookies at the cookie-walk. More than I can say for my school's carnival/Halloween party!

Oh, here's my snazzy broom at the church's party in the park. And my little victims, I mean siblings. Heeheehee.

Season 2 Ep.2 - Learning to Ride a Bike #2

I actually have a bigger bike, but I thought it would be safer to learn on the little one. It's no fun to fall and I've decided the bigger the bike the bigger the fall. I got the hang of it in less than an hour! I'm so awesome!

Season 2 - Ep. 1 - Learning to Ride a Bike

Today my dad finally taught me how to ride a bike - withOUT training wheels! I picked it up VERY fast. Mom went to the store, and 1 hour later when she got home I could ride a bike! I'm so awesome. (I just haven't really learned how to stop!)

Episode 35 - I'm a Big Sister...Again

This is my new baby brother, Andrew. He's so little and cute. I just want to hold him ALL THE TIME! My mom doesn't always like to let me hold him though. Sometimes I scare her when I move him around. I just love to hold him! I know what I'm doing! Sheesh, Mom, I'm already six years old!

I did a lot of fun things with Grandmama when she came the first week he was born. We went on picnics, to parks, and swimming. It was the funnest week ever.
My mom said that the rest of the summer is going to be boring because she doesn't want to go anywhere with 4 little kids by herself. I think this is going to be the longest, boringest summer ever now.
I'm just going to have to find my own fun I guess!

Episode 34 - All About Emmee at K-Grad.

Each kid got their diploma one by one. Here was my moment in the spotlight.
Here's what was said.
Mrs. Kaye: Emmalynn Jones. Her favorite color is green. Her favorite thing about school is Mrs. Riley and Mrs. Kaye. And when she grows up she wants to be a teacher.

Episode 33 - Kindergarten Graduation

For while it seemed endless, but graduation day finally came. I have successfully finished my first year of public school.
Here's me sitting in my chair at the graduation. There were almost 100 kids in my graduation class!

Here I am walking out with my diploma.

This is my teacher Mrs. Riley. I loved it when she gave us snacks, and when she sharpened my pencils when I needed her to.

And here is my teacher's aid, Mrs. Kaye. I like her because she's really nice to give us treats too.

Here are some of my friends, Elisabeth and Lacey.

And some more, me, Shaneiska, Filicity, Shakeiska, and Lacey.

Here's the table I sat at to do my work.

Here's my family. (some people just don't know how to work my mom's camera)

Here's my awesome dad, who left work just to come! Of course he had to leave right away and go back.

Here's my awesome mom. She was the room mom this year and brought in lots of stuff all the time. I think Mrs. Riley is going to miss her the most.

And last of all, here's my little sister, Cassidee, who wants to be just like me when she grows up.
