Season 6 - Episode 3 - 5th Grade

Yesterday was Thursday, the first day of school. The day before that, me and my mom made lemon-zucchini bread to give to our new teachers.  So on the first day of school, I picked the prettiest rose in our flower bed and put it in a small box with the bread and two small packs of tissues and two pretty yarn crafts shaped like a heart and a star that I made myself.  Then I gave them to my teacher, Mrs. Kimbell.  And she loved it all.  I also gave one to Mrs. Bechdol, the librarian, because my mom said to because she works hard in the PTA.
I found out Mrs. Kimbell only whispers when she talks.  She never raises her voice any higher.  I wish I was like that.  (and so does my mom!)  She never gets angry at anyone.  What a change from 4th grade!
We discussed the rules, she showed us how to have lunch, and we took a timed math test with only 5 minutes to do 100 multiplication problems.  I skipped all the 12's cause I don't know the 12's.  I'll have to work on those.  I got 84 out of 100 of the problems.  One boy got all 100 correct and one of the other girls only missed 1.
Then we came home on the bus and I told my mom all about my first day.  And then my dad came home and I told him all about my first day too.  We had dinner and had delicious hamburgers that my dad grilled.
Today was the second day.  Mrs. Kimbell showed us how to make an awesome poster about ourselves.  My poster's title was "All About Me".  And that's exactly what it was about.  I like to write about myself, because I'm awesome.  Now my teacher can know me and what I like to do and what I don't like to do.  Some of the things I put about myself are: My favorite color is purple; My favorite food is Asian Lettuce Wraps (and my teacher loves them too); My favorite subject is math...and science.  Fun, Fun, Fun.  It asked what my favorite TV show was and I don't have one, because I like a bunch.
I had a great lunch.  In Kindergarten I wasn't able to have lunchables, but now my mom lets us have lunchables...sometimes.  I love the nacho kind, especially when it has nerds.
We came home on the bus and I was really sweaty.  I told my mom all about my second day.  And I told her everything because Mrs. Kimbell is very awesome...just like me.
This is going to be a great year,  YIPPY!!!
Here's me on the first day.

Adam is in 1st grade and Cassidee is in 3rd grade.
We give a present to our new teachers on the first day of school every year.

I had the same bus driver, Miss Elizabeth, every year from Kindergarten to 5th grade.
(p.s. I actually hate riding the bus everyday, but don't tell her that.)

Season 6 - Episode 2 - 5th grade is almost here!

Today I learned that my teacher for 5th grade will be Mrs. Kimbell.  I met her at the school when my mom and I went to feed breakfast to all the 60 teachers and staff in our school. She is Mrs. Ledek's sister.  Mrs. Ledek is awesome, she went on a mission to Brazil like my dad.  And since Mrs. Ledek is awesome, I can tell Mrs. Kimbell will be a great teacher for me.  I wonder if Mrs. Kimbell went on a mission as well?  I think maybe she did cause her sister did.
I found out that Mrs. Ledek went on a mission one day when we were having lunch in the cafeteria.  I was telling my friends how awesome Portuguese was when Mrs. Ledek came by and heard me speaking a few words in Portuguese.  Then she started speaking Portuguese to me.  I said I don't know all the words in Portuguese.  I asked her how she knew Portuguese.  She said that she went on a mission to Brazil.  That is how I found out Mrs. Ledek went on a mission to Brazil.
While I was at the school with my mom, Cassidee, Adam, Andrew and Brexton stayed at my friend Emma's house.  They had a lot of fun.  When we went to go pick them up, we stayed a bit longer to play while the moms talked and talked and talked and talked.
I can't wait to meet every kid in my class and hear all the rules my teacher has tomorrow at the Open House.  Then on Thursday school will finally start.  Then no more swimming, boo hoo.

Season 6 - Episode 1 - My Summer Travels

Somehow Season 5 went by with no episodes.  Sorry folks.
Season 6 is now about my life at age 10.
I've now finished the 4th grade and am soon headed to the 5th.  My summer has been fun and relaxing.  The day school got out in May this year, my family headed to Utah for my sister, Cassidee's, baptism.  I was happy to see my sister get baptized.  It was great to see my cousins and extended family while we were there.
One day in Utah my cousin Brynley and I were at this park with a pond.  Brynley dropped me on the cement and made me get a big scar on my elbow. I also got to have a sleepover with my cousins Lyndsi and Hailey and my sister Cassidee at Grandmama's house. At the end of the week all my Riskedahl-side cousins had a huge sleepover at my Aunt Ronda's house.  My mom and all my aunts had a weekend getaway and Dad and Uncle Ron were in charge of all the kids for 2 days.
Then we packed up with some of my favorite cousins, Kari and Addison, and headed to North Dakota to see my Nana and Papa Riskedahl.  We stayed at the farm in Tuttle and had a blast.  My friend Paige came to visit from Arizona.  We cleaned the clubhouse that used to be my Great Grandma and Grandpa Riskedahl's house back in the 1940's and 50's.  It's a really old house with no bathroom or running water.  As we washed the floor, we ran to the big house and back a million times for water and soap.  We made Kallie be the go-getter.  She's Paige's little sister.
I got to ride horses with my favorite Great Aunt Donna.  She is the best because she gives us a special breakfast with donuts, cheetos, and oreos.  Uncle Duane, Papa's brother, gave me and Kari a ride out on his Big Red around the farm.  We got to go look for frogs, but I guess, this year was not the frog year because we didn't find any.  Last year we caught a bunch of frogs when all the cousins were there at the farm.
We left Addison with Nana and Papa and took Kari with us back to her house where it was really hot.  So we ran around in the sprinklers.  The next day we made a spa in the bathroom where we put lotion on our face and cucumbers on our eyes and laid on towels on the floor while our moms took pictures.  They thought it was hilarious.  It was a lot of fun.
When we got home it was really late at night.  I was really happy to finally get home and rest from all that traveling.  We started swimming lessons with our church friends, the Carlings.  I think I am the best at swimming, but I'm probably not.  I'm really fast at all the different strokes, but sometimes I do them wrong.  My favorite is the butterfly stroke.  But at first my favorite was the back stroke because we didn't yet know the butterfly arms.  We started reading the books for the summer reading program at the library.  Cassidee heard that she could try to win a Kindle if she reads the most books.  She read a lot, over 175 books.  Me, on the other hand, was just trying to get fun toys to play with.  But when I got enough book bucks to get what I really wanted this other girl got what I really wanted and there were no more left.
This past week we didn't get to go to swimming lessons because too many people got sick and Sis. Carling went camping.  Today we went shopping to get school supplies.  It was fun but when my mom found out we were taking too long she almost started running.  We got home and one of her piano students was waiting at the door.  Me and my siblings went out to the shed to find the new backpacks.  I looked in every box and I guess I miss them anyway.  Mom had to find them for us.  I am excited to go to 5th grade.
We also had my favorite dinner tonight, Biscuits and Gravy.  Yum!

Season 3 Ep. 3 - My Favorite Holiday

My FAVORITE holiday of all time is CHRISTMAS. I'm so excited. I feel like I've waited forever for it to get here. I can't wait to open the presents under the tree tomorrow. It'll be Christmas Eve and in my house we get to open all the gifts we give each other on Christmas Eve. Then all the presents from Santa come on Christmas Day. Mommy says to thank Nana and Papa Riskedahl for that tradition because not everybody does it that way. I think they should though!
I sat on Santa's lap twice and told him what I wanted. I'm pretty sure I'll get everything on my list. I really want a walkie talkie, some glittery little pet shops, and (my favorite) perler beads!
Most people don't know what they are, but I do, and they're fabulous! I'm so excited, I can hardly wait.
Mom says to always remember "the reason for the season", but how can you when you're 7 years old!! She also says it's about giving to others.
I gave a few gifts to other people.
And I certainly don't mind the "receiving" side either!!!

Season 3 Ep. 1 - First Day of Second Grade

Another year has come.
I'm growing up before your very eyes!
I'm an old pro at this school thing now. I'm in second grade this year.
My new teacher's name is Mrs. Roberts. She's really nice. She hasn't yelled at all yet.
This was my first day of school.

Cassee is in Kindergarten now, so she rides the bus with me.
Of course my mother made us wear matching clothes...again!

Here we are waiting at the bus stop together. It's in front of the next door neighbor's house. We don't have far to go. Lucky us.

And then, of course, my crazy little brother has to come out too. He was going to preschool the same day. He was excited too and he wanted to ride our bus too! He's so silly, he's still wearing his pjs.
(I guess pjs is better than what he did this morning. He came running out on the lawn when the bus came in just his underwear! Yikes!)

I hope I have a fun year. I'm going to be really busy. I'm taking piano lessons, soccer and two different dance classes. My mom said I won't have any time for watching cartoons. Darn it. She just keeps saying, "I hope I survive!"
Yeah, me too!
