Episode 23 - We Live in a Desert, Right?

So, I don't get it. Everyone keeps saying we live in a desert. Why isn't it hot then?
A couple of weeks ago I had to walk from my car to the church building. Of course I didn't wear a coat because we live in a desert. Deserts are hot, right? I actually got mad at my mom when I got cold before I reached the door. What's going on around here?
Then the other day I wanted to wear my flip flops when I went to town with my mom to shop. She said I couldn't wear them! What, I said, I thought we lived in a desert! I was so mad.
I just don't understand what's going on around here. What kind of desert do I live in if a can't wear flip flops whenever I want?? I'm not sure if I like it here sometimes. Humf.

Episode 22 - My First Lost Tooth

Here's how I look without one of my teeth!

A few weeks ago I discovered a loose tooth on my bottom row of teeth. My mom said that it wasn't that loose and that I should just keep wiggling it with my tongue.
Well, I did... a lot.
Sometimes it was a little scary to eat and sometimes it hurt a little to brush my teeth, but my tooth did get looser and looser.
On Sunday morning I could kind of push my tooth half way over. Mom just kept saying to wiggle it. I could kind of feel the bottom of my tooth with my tongue.
Then the most amazing thing happened. Right in the middle of church, I was supposed to be listening to someone talk, my tooth just came out.
I stood up and yelled to mom, "My tooth came out!"
Everyone around us heard me too, I think, cause some people looked over and smiled or laughed.
I had to go rinse my mouth out cause there was a little blood in my mouth.
My mouth felt so funny after that, I kept sticking my tongue in the space to feel it. It was so cool.
I was so excited for the tooth fairy to come. I woke up at 2:00 in the morning and saw money in my cup. I had to go wake up my parents for them to see how much I got.
Dad said he only got a quarter when he was little. I must be way gooder than him because I got $1.42! I'm so rich now.
I'm so excited to lose another tooth. I keep wiggling all my teeth, but Mom says none are loose right now, darn.

Episode 21 - The Christmas Program

My music teacher, Mrs. Sewell, is awesome. She has taught us many songs and jokes. She has each class in the whole school perform a little informal production for their parents every year around Christmas. Mine was today.
My dad took the day off work (it was actually for a couple reasons), so at 12:25 my whole family walked into the music room to watch me perform. We did lots of Christmas songs and everyone told one or two jokes. ( I told two, cause I'm awesome... usually.)
My mom kind of (a little bit) ruined things because she forgot to bring extra batteries for the camera... and the ones in the camera were low, way low.
Here's me at the beginning of the show:

Here I am a little closer:

Now here is the kicker. Mom puts the camera on video mode to catch me telling my first joke. Now remember that the battery is really low. I got kind of nervous with everyone watching me so I took a while to say my joke and this is all my mom got:

It's a little hard to tell but this is what she was supposed to catch me saying:
Me: What do you call someone who is afraid of Santa Claus?
Everyone: What??
Me: CLAUS - trophobic!
I had a hard time saying claus-trophibic. It was pretty funny, but the camera was definitely dead by then.

I also told this joke at the end, I was the finnale (I'm not sure how to spell that).
Me: What kind of music to elves like?
Everyone: What kind??
Me: WRAP music! HAHAHA

I did really good on that one. I wasn't even shy that time. Too bad mom didn't save the battery juice for that one.

Here's one last shot of me, I was kind of playing around I guess. But aren't my reindeer antlers awesome. They had bells on them.

Episode 20 - The Flu Shot

Yesterday my mother told my the most horrendous news. A flu shot was coming my way the next day. I immediately started crying! Mom was a little annoyed at me because the shot wasn't until the next day anyway. I hate shots...with a passion. They are the most horrid thing ever and I never ever want to get another one, ever again. I stressed about it all night and into this morning. As I walked out the door to the bus this morning I was still telling her how much I didn't want to get a shot.
I was pouting at the school when my mom came to get me. (I was gone for about an hour and a half during lunch.)
I started to cry again as I got into the car.
I pouted as the receptionist checked us in. She tried to convince me that it wouldn't hurt. Yeah, right!
I sat in the corner (not happy) in the doctor's room waiting for the nurse to come in.
Then...a miracle happened. (My praying paid off!!!!)
She said that since I was more than two years old I could get a nasal mist dose instead of a shot!!! It felt funny going up my nose and I had to sniff a bunch of times, but I never even cried! And I got two stickers. (Actually I got four because I took Adam's, he didn't really care anyway.)
It was amazing, the rest of the day went so much better! I think every shot in the world needs to be a nasal mist dose. If needles went away forever the world would be a better place.

Episode 19 - The Slow Eater

My mother packs me a honey sandwich everyday for lunch. That's all I want. I don't want peanut butter and jelly, ham and cheese, or anything else. And definitely not something from school lunch.
The last few days I've come home with about half my sandwich left. My mom gets a little irate because she thinks a half a sandwich isn't enough for lunch. I always tell her that I just don't have enough time. A lunch lady always comes and says, time's up, put your stuff away and go outside for recess. Still my moms just says that I need to eat faster.
Today at lunch, (I was eating slowly again) I confessed to Dad (Mom happened to hear it too) that I'm the only one in my class that doesn't finish their lunch at school. I guess I am just slow.
My mom started laughing. She said something about me being just like her in Kindergarten. I don't really know what she's talking about, but she thought it was funny. But then she got serious again and said, "EAT FASTER!"

Episode 18 - Three Little Ghosts

The funnest thing I did in school today, besides recess and coloring, was to make these little ghosts. (I didn't actually make all three today.) They are green, orange, and red. They have curly tails that were really fun to cut out. And now the tails hang down kind of curly.

Here's a picture of the ghosts before I cut them out, in case anyone wants to make one too. You can draw one from looking at my pattern.

I love Halloween and I ask my mom practically everyday how many days it still is to Halloween. I'm getting tired of WAITING!!

Episode 17 - Counting to 100, For Real!

So I tried to tell my mom that my puzzle I won was for counting to 100, BY TENS. But she didn't believe me. She didn't think Mrs. Riley would have a reward like a puzzle for that. I showed her wrong yesterday when I came home with a jump rope. The jump rope is the prize for counting to 100, BY ONES.
Now I have two prizes! I just want to count all the time now. I'm so good at it. I can even count PAST 100. Yeah for me!!!

Episode 16 - Student of the Month

My mother was pleasantly surprised when I brought this home the first week in Oct.
I was Mrs. Riley's (K teacher) Sept. student of the month!
The only bad this is that I didn't have the most awesome hairdo the day they took my picture!

Episode 15 - Teaching Karate Lessons

The other night at dinner I taught Adam some karate moves. I just naturally knew how. I'm very awesome. Adam,on the other hand, is going to need a little more practice!

Episode 14 - "R" Day Show and Tell

Every week we focus on a letter. This week it was "R".
Every Friday we get to have Show and Tell, but we have to bring something that starts with that letter.

Santiago brought a Rr Rr Race car.
Kaydee brought a stuffed Rr Rr Rabbit.
(I can't remember for sure, but I think that is all the kids that brought something. Of course, besides me.)

I took some Rr Rr Roses. (From my front yard. Pickin's were slim because of a wind storm the other day that ruined all the others.)

I took two red ones and two orange ones.
They are looking a little droopy because they didn't get water all day.

Here I am smelling them. They smell sooooo good!
I always take a great show and tell, thanks to my awesome mom!

Episode 13 - PE Games

Today we had PE. My mom asked me what we did today and this way my response.

"When he (the PE teacher) points to a wall, we run to a black line. There's every black line and a wall.
Then we jump roped and sat on a orange line. That's all."

I have a hard time explaining the whole thing.

PS. This should have aired two days ago.

Episode 12 - My Puzzle Award

One of the requirements for graduating from Kindergarten is to be able to count to 100. So, to encourage all of us to learn to count to 100, Mrs. Riley, my teacher, said we could pick out the puzzle of our choice when we could do it.
Today, I did it!!!

This is the awesome puzzle I picked.
Mom said it was cool because it was a "color wheel". Whatever that means. I just thought it looked colorful, like a rainbow. I love rainbows!!

Here's me doing the puzzle.

Here's Cassee thinking she's helping me.

Ta da. I finished it! And all by myself. Sweet!

My mommy is so proud of me!

Episode 11 - Counting by 10's

This is me with my new awesome ability to count by 10's.
How many people can pinpoint the day they figured out how to count by 10's??
I can, Sept. 27th, 2009!!

Episode 10 - I'm a Broken Record

Today I learned a new song at music time at school. I sang it for my mom.....over and over and over and over and over... You get the picture, right?
It's a sing-songy chant (kind of like the "Trick or treat, smell my feet, give me something good to eat" chant). It goes like this:
"Billy Bad, Billy Bad, tell me why you are so sad."
"Cause my name is Billy Bad."
I'm sure you can see why my mom loved hearing that over and over (all evening long!) and over and over and over... Well, you get the picture.

Episode 9 - I Love Primary

I love to go to primary. We sing songs and get to color.
Today in my CTR 5 class, I learned about temples. I learned that you get married in them. You can also get sealed in them. And the number one rule I learned today about temples is that you keep your hands to yourself, just like at regular church.

Episode 8 - My Awesome Ability To Do My Own Hair!

Since I was little (and actually had hair) my mother has always insisted on doing my hair for me. Sometimes I like it, usually I don't. Usually I like lots of flower clips and other glittery or colorful accessories, but sometimes my mom thinks there a little too much. I've recently figured out how to wrap a band in my hair. Yeah for me! I like low ponytails. My mom puts them too high. (And of course I never pay attention to the color of the band!) Sometimes I put them on the side just for fun. And I like this awesome headband I found in my mom's stuff. She says it from Ecuador. It's a little big for my head and sometimes it falls, but it's awesome anyway.

This is my latest and greatest hair-do. I do this everyday, if I'm allowed!

OK, I just needed to make a few funny faces, just because it's so fun!

Hahahaha, now I'm done!

Episode 7 - I Like Math and Skirts

My mom always wants to know my favorite part of my day. Almost always I tell her coloring. We color everyday. We color everything.
Today I actually said something different, and it really surprise my mom. Not so much what I said, but the fact that I said something other than coloring.
I told her my favorite part of my day was doing the math paper. There were four pictures on each line and we had to cross out the one thing that didn't go with the others.
I like it. It's fun, because I like it. (Direct quote!)

Today I got to pick out my own outfit! I hardly ever get to do that. My mom usually says things like, "that doesn't match," or "it's too hot for those pants", or some other such thing. This morning my little brother was sick and mom wasn't paying much attention to me. Plus all my other clothes were in the wash!
I always want to wear a skirt, but I hardly ever get to. This is one of my favorites. There's just not a lot of shirts that go with it.
Sweet, I love it when I get to wear what I want!!

Episode 6 - The Letter M

This week we are learning the letter 'M'. (Last week was the letter 'S'.) I named off many things to my mother tonight at dinner that start with the letter 'M'. (She asked me how I knew them and I said it's because I sounded them out. See how smart I am now!)
Anyway, I told her this list: monkey, money, milk, and moose. On the back of my 'M' page where I drawed a bunch of M's, I had to draw something that started with an M. I drew two little circles and colored them silver. I had to tell my teacher they were money cause she didn't know.
The funnest part of my day was coloring the moose I did at school. Dad asked what a moose was. I told him it was brown and had horns. It's kind of like a dog, but a little bigger. I can't believe he doesn't know what a moose is!

Episode 5 - Emmee made a funny!

So the other day my mother says it's bath time. We all head to the bathroom. The tub is big enough for three little bodies, so we all take a bath together.
Of course warm water brings on "you-know-what", so we all have to use the toilet before she lets us get into the tub.
Since I'm bigger and faster, I beat Cassee to the toilet. While I'm sitting there Cassee is standing completely naked next to the door making her panicky noise and dancing like she can't wait to get on the toilet.
My mother, sitting on the little stool next to the tub, says, "Don't pee your pants, Cassee!"
I turn to Mom and say,"She can't pee her pants, she can only ... pee."
Mom starts laughing, "oh, because she's naked, right?"
I start laughing too. HAHAHA I'm so clever!

Episode 4 - The Library Dragon

Today at school I went to the library. We heard the story, "The Library Dragon". It's a story about a dragon and a little girl. The dragon lives in the library and doesn't let anyone touch the books. One day the dragon fell asleep. The little girl came to look for her glasses and a book fell on her lap. Then the kids heard storytime in the library from her. All the kids came to the library and the little girl started reading. Then the dragon woke up and heard her reading and she came over and stared at the girl and took the book away. The dragon sniffed it and she looked at the front cover and she looked at the pages to see if there was any boogers and snotty stuff. Then the Library dragon started to read the book. Then all her scales came off. Then she became into a nice library girl that was nice. The End. That's all I remember.

Commentary from the Producer

A week ago, or so, Emmalynn's teacher sent home a workbook for her to do on her own. Emmalynn didn't have school today, it was a professional development day for the teachers. Emmalynn was really excited to not have to go to school, yet all morning she wanted me to help her do a page in her book. (school, as she called it) Finally we sat down and she made a bar graph. (I think it was mostly for the skittles.) She got a 100%. What a smart child!

Here she is working hard to color in the graph.

She gets a handful of skittles everyday in her lunch. I guess she just didn't want to be jipped today with no school.

Here's Cassidee watching, wishing she could "do school" too.

Episode 3 - The Number 10

Today I had this conversation with my mother.
Mom: What did you learn in school today?
Me: We learned the number 10 today.
Mom: How did you learn the number 10?
Me: It's easy, you just do a straight down with a circle around. Only it's not together. It's just a zero with a little one. Just watch me do it on my lap, MOM. I'll teach you.

Episode 2 - A flashback to the first day of School

My first day of school was a Friday. A half day just for Kindergarteners to get familiar with the school and their new teachers. I rode the bus home and had school lunch that day. (The only day so far!)

This is the morning of the first real day of school. I got on the bus at 7:05 am.

Episode 1 - Sunday School Teachings

In response to the question, "What did you learn at church today?", I responded with one word, FOOD. The next question, "What about food?", I calmly reply, "It comes from trees and animals." The end. That's all I learned today.

Piloting the show

Hello and welcome to the Emmee Rae Show. Fun and exciting things happen everyday in the life of me, Emmalynn Rae Jones.
I am an energetic 5 year old girl who just started Kindergarten two weeks ago.
I attend Bluffview Elementary School in Farmington, New Mexico. My teacher's name is Mrs. Riley and she has taught school for 27 years! She's been around the block before!
So far my favorite thing about school is coloring. I get to do it everyday. Playing with the puzzles inside my classroom is fun too.
I definitely don't go for the school lunch. I make my mother pack me a lunch everyday. I'm so picky I don't even like their pizza, because it is square (so wrong for pizza) and because there's pepperoni on it. (I hate pepperoni!)
I ride the bus for quite a long time everyday. I freeze in the morning and melt in the afternoon. (That's New Mexico in August for you!) School starts too early for me, but I hope I'll get used to the routine.
That's all for now. Stay tuned for new episodes coming up next week!
Thanks to all my viewers, may you have a colorful day too.
